Good but could have been great

I was a huge fan of the original back in the 90s. The graphics were awesome and the interface was killer at the time.

Playing this version on the ipad is frustrating because it is so very close to recreating the original but still falls short.

Although many have complained about the pixelated graphics, and I do agree, I think the UI is the biggest problem. I dont recall having such a terrible time terraforming in the original.

In fact one my my fondest memories of the game was building train routes through mountainous terrain. In this version it is the aspect I dread the most.

Now that I think about it, if they could have just iterated more on that one use case I think they could have a winner. Building rails and roads was so much fun. With this version I try to avoid it if I can.

Thats the biggest issue. Still a good game though and the new music is really fun. Also enjoyed the lack of depots. Risky call but it improves over the original.
